About Us
About Kirat Rai Yayokkha Hong Kong
By bringing together Kirat Rai people who are living in Hong Kong either permanently or temporarily, the organization was established to research, explore, preserve, and promote the history, language, script, arts, literature, religion, traditions, and culture of the Kirat Rai community; to inspire and guide them in advancing in various areas of social concern; and to strengthen contacts and relationships with different ethnic communities, social organizations, and other institutions in Hong Kong, while keeping the identity of the Kirat Rai people vibrant among them. Through the initiative of Kirat Rai people residing in Hong Kong, Kirat Rai Yayokkha Hong Kong was established.
Kirat Rai Yayokkha Hong Kong is an organization established on 28 January 1998 (corresponding to 15 Magh 2054 B.S.) under the Societies Ordinance (Chapter 151) of Hong Kong. Later, on 9 August 2011, the organization was re-registered under the Companies Ordinance (Chapter 32) of Hong Kong and, from 19 March 2012, obtained recognition as a charitable organization under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance (Chapter 112) of Hong Kong. Since then, it has been established as a common organization representing the Kirat Rai community.
Important Matters
Chula Ghar at Risk
Kilun Tsuen, Satung, Lot No. 2095, D.D. 102 — the ancestral ceremonial site of the Kirat Rai community — has been published in the Government Gazette under G.N. 8094 for compulsory acquisition for the development of San Tin Technopole Phase 2.
More than just a building — it is the living heart of Kirat Rai religious and cultural identity in Hong Kong.
Our Goal
Heritage Preservation, Protection of Rights
A registered charitable organization dedicated to preserving the living traditions of the Kirat Rai community in Hong Kong.
KRAHK was established in 2012 in Hong Kong to safeguard the cultural identity of the Kirat Rai community. We organize Sakela festivals, preserve the oral traditions of Mundhum, and provide welfare support. Today, we are also leading the legal defense of Chula Ghar against government acquisition under G.N. 8094.
